Volunteering for SAF gives me the chance to pay it forward…it’s the least I can do to help others who need the support.

Volunteers are the heart of SAF. There are a variety of ways you can further your involvement with our organization and the scarring alopecia community.

  1. Fundraise. There are many creative ways that you can raise much needed funds for the organization. Whether you host a grassroots event or create a personalized donation page, you are helping to further our mission while raising awareness of these rare disorders. To make the fundraising process even easier, you’ll have a SAF staff person there to help you every step of the way. Contact info@scarringalopecia.org to start fundraising today.
  2. Connect with others. Help us welcome newly diagnosed and new members to our organization. You can help plan a support group meeting in your hometown or become a moderator of one of our online communities. Do you want to become a Patient Outreach Volunteer? There are many ways that you can guide patients through this time of uncertainty.
  3. Inspire Others. We know that many patients with scarring alopecia come and visit our website immediately after they receive their diagnosis. We strongly believe that in addition to receiving accurate medical information, they need to read stories about people coping and living with their diagnosis. By sharing your story, you can help inspire and encourage others. Submit your own story to SAF at info@scarringalopecia.org.
  4. Share Your Skills. Are you a graphic designer or accountant? Do you enjoy writing? Are you in marketing or public relations? Do you have a social work, counseling or medical background? There are many ways you can share your professional skills with SAF. Volunteer your skills to better serve our community as we further develop new content for the SAF website, newsletter and social media sites.

Are you a medical professional who treats patients with scarring alopecia? Want to get further involved with the SAF community? There are many ways you can volunteer your expertise from participating on our Medical & Scientific Advisory Committee or one of our working groups. Please contact the SAF office by emailing info@scarringalopecia.org.

Our SAF office is very small, but thanks to the willingness and generosity of our volunteers, we can expand our reach in the scarring alopecia community.
