Many of our members take solace in knowing that there is a patient advocacy organization working exclusively to meet the unique needs of the scarring alopecia community. They know where to turn when they want a referral to a knowledgeable dermatologist or to learn about the latest scarring alopecia research in this unique hair disorder. They know firsthand the vital connections SAF provides through our patient outreach volunteers or conferences.

Our dedicated volunteers and staff at the national office make this all possible. SAF’s day-to-day operations, including our valuable programing and informational services rely solely on the generosity of our donors. We receive no government funding or foundation giving. We operate on a very limited budget and promise to use your gift in the wisest way possible.

Here’s How You Can Help
There are many ways you can have an impact within our community. Donating to SAF is very much-needed and appreciated. Even the smallest gift can make a difference, as all donations can add up to something big!

Where Your Money Is Going
To increase transparency in our organization, we’ve outlined some key areas we are looking to develop in the next year. However, we can’t do this alone. We need your support to make this happen.

SAF’s Future: Research: In our next fiscal year, we are dedicated to funding a research grant. We plan to strengthen our presence and influence among leading investigators and leverage our patients’ voices for better outcomes. We need to lead the way to better treatments and one day, a cure for scarring alopecia. We’re also working to produce a quarterly research publication that would summarize in laymen’s terms the ongoing studies and what the potential outcomes could mean for you.

Support: We look forward to reactivating several of our support groups and expanding our outreach to new locations. We also plan to host one-day meetings in regions that do not have active support groups, increasing opportunities for connections with our patient community and medical professionals.

Information: Utilizing today’s technology, we will offer online educational webinars, connecting you with the leading medical professionals from the comfort of your own home. We will continue expand and update our website content to include ways for to deeper engagement with SAF and each other.

Awareness: Our year-long communication calendar is filled with e-news, social media posts, newsletters and patient stories. With this increased information and ways to connect, we anticipate the expansion of SAF’s network of members, families, friends, physicians and researchers.

Your representative can coordinate this transfer by calling SAF’s office at (267)613.9811.

If you hold tangible personal property that you believe will be of value to SAF, please contact the SAF office at (267)613.9811 to discuss your gift.

Will/Bequests– Your legacy will add to the financial stability of SAF. Your participation in this tradition of remembrance will help insure that there will be a financially strong organization in the future. A bequest to SAF will also qualify your estate for an estate tax charitable deduction equal to the entire amount you bequeath. Bequests may take several forms. Sample language for a general bequest: “I give {indicate here a dollar amount, a description of specific asset(s), and/or a fixed percentage of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate} to the Scarring Alopecia Foundation (SAF) in Kulpsville, PA, for its general purposes (or {indicate here your intended use of the donation, such as research, community outreach programs, scholarships, education, publications, etc.}.
