2020 was an interesting year for all non-profits and The Scarring Alopecia Foundation (SAF) was no exception. Every other year, we host a national conference and we were set to meet in Nashville in April 2020 but clearly the world had other plans. In less than six weeks, SAF was able to pivot and offer a national virtual conference with a full agenda of topics and exceptional speakers.
It was an amazingly informative day and we were thrilled so many were able to participate. In fact we had more participants virtually than ever in-person at one of our conferences. The feedback we received was so positive, we hosted a second virtual summit on CCCA with another panel of experts from across the United States.
Both virtual meetings were a wonderful opportunity for patients to engage with leading experts and have their questions answered. Members provided high praise for our panel and excited with the knowledge they’ve just acquired.
During the 2021 calendar year, SAF is excited to continue offering virtual events for our members to continue to provide exceptional education and support to the scarring alopecia community.
In 2022, SAF will continue to work with our Board of Directors and Medical and Scientific Advisory Board to determine if an in person meeting will be in the cards. In the meantime….
